If Tivadar Demeter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iker Casillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amanda Almqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Villa Gordiani's goalkeeper Iker Casillas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 18thth minute of the game Tivadar Demeter who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Szombathely Squirrels's Arnold Szuper proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Szombathely Squirrels from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Villa Gordiani booed when Szombathely Squirrels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. József Varga didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Tivadar Demeter came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Szombathely Squirrels fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tivadar Demeter couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Szombathely Squirrels getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Bai Jun Chong hit a great ball. Arnold Szuper made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Fabrizio Canzano sent off a good shot on target. Iker Casillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tivadar Demeter, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Amos Ruggeri made in the 41st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Szombathely Squirrels's Tarmo Elken. In the 45th minute Tivadar Demeter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iker Casillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tivadar Demeter to make the kick off. In the 54th minute of the match, Tivadar Demeter tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Iker Casillas saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 57 minutes into the game, Szombathely Squirrels's Tivadar Demeter nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iker Casillas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Szombathely Squirrels's Lei Jian Xiong was substituted for Tivadar Demeter. Szombathely Squirrels's Lei Jian Xiong got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 68 minutes into the match, Lei Jian Xiong notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas. Iker Casillas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 73rd match minute, Villa Gordiani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabrizio Canzano to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute, Lei Jian Xiong reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Iker Casillas. The goal made the score 1-3. Iker Casillas came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Szombathely Squirrels's Lei Jian Xiong. But to his dismay, Lei Jian Xiong quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Lei Jian Xiong struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Iker Casillas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Szombathely Squirrels. Lei Jian Xiongs short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Iker Casillas to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lei Jian Xiong had several of the Villa Gordiani's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 88 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-5 score and a disappointed Iker Casillas as he didn't even see the shot coming. Iker Casillas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lei Jian Xiong in the 90th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Villa Gordiani's zone, Lei Jian Xiong stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iker Casillas came out of the goal and Lei Jian Xiong tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 94 minutes, Lei Jian Xiong managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lei Jian Xiong was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Szombathely Squirrels had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
