Rupert Heidingsfelder started the match with the kick off. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willi Tilmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. 4 minutes into the match, Hannover Reds's goalkeeper Bernd Yuschni had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nils Hovermann. Lüder Roppel lost his temper 9 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Hertha 1969 fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 9th minute. Penalty! Rune Jarstein had in the 10thth minute some difficulties stopping Otfried Mutke's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Emilio Melzer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bernd Yuschni. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. Lars Voss recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 22 minutes of play, Hertha 1969's Rupert Heidingsfelder made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernd Yuschni was left in no man's land by his defense there! 25 minutes into the game, Benedikt Bensch cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Bernd Yuschni was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Emilio Melzer took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Bernd Yuschni to make any attempt to save it. In the 31st minute, Emilio Melzer fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedikt Bensch in the 34th minute of play forced Hannover Reds's goalkeeper Bernd Yuschni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Hannover Reds's Emilio Argina. But to his dismay, Emilio Argina quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Nils Hovermann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Bernd Yuschni made a huge save. Zé Paulo da Silva made a great header on Hertha 1969's corner, it was just that Hannover Reds's Bernd Yuschni managed to reach the ball for a save. Rune Jarstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willi Tilmann in the 46th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emilio Argina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Hannover Reds's Lars Voss nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rune Jarstein made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Argina, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 59 minutes into the game, Jörn Hartwig threw the ball into play from the sideline. Hertha 1969's Lothar Heber quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Voss in the 60th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rune Jarstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Willi Tilmann in the 63rd minute. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Emilio Melzer hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emilio Argina in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rune Jarstein saved Hertha 1969 from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Lothar Heber got a free kick in the 71st minute. Lothar Heber's late challenge caught a Hannover Reds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lothar Heber helped the player get up and apologised. In the 73rd match minute, Hertha 1969 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lothar Heber to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein got control of the ball when Otfried Mutke tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rupert Heidingsfelder's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bernd Yuschni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Lothar Heber got a free kick in the 78th minute. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Hannover Reds's Otfried Mutke. But to his dismay, Otfried Mutke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-4. Rune Jarstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilio Argina in the 83rd minute of the match. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Qiao Xing Qi in the 92nd minute of play. Emilio Argina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rune Jarstein having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Lars Voss notched a goal, 4-5, to the right of Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein. Rune Jarstein was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Hannover Reds players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
