The supporters of Hamburg Fighters booed when SSV Ulm 1846 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derek Henderson didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Hamburg Fighters getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Brandon Rick hit a great ball. The long shot by Sven-Olof Lilja in the 5th minute really tested Pavlos Konstantakakis's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Timo Courtois took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Szilárd Újváry, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Szilárd Újváry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Timo Courtois tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pavlos Konstantakakis made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Tunç Akkaya sent off a good shot on target. In the 13th minute SSV Ulm 1846 were awarded a corner. Sven-Olof Lilja went to the cornerflag to take it. Tunç Akkaya blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pavlos Konstantakakis having to make a save. Timo Courtois showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gianluca Balla, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. With a little luck, Hamburg Fighters's Pavlos Konstantakakis got control of the ball when Tunç Akkaya tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, SSV Ulm 1846 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tunç Akkaya to maneuver through the defense. Timo Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Szilárd Újváry in the 25th minute of the match. Hamburg Fighters's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Szilárd Újváry in the 26th minute. The corner ended in Maicon Fonseca almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SSV Ulm 1846's Timo Courtois did a great save. In the 29th minute Gianluca Balla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timo Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Hamburg Fighters's goal looked a bit too open when Tunç Akkaya came free, but Pavlos Konstantakakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pavlos Konstantakakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tunç Akkaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. SSV Ulm 1846's Sven-Olof Lilja was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pavlos Konstantakakis in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Timo Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gianluca Balla in the 42nd minute of the match. Enrico Piccirilli kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Pavlos Konstantakakis was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tunç Akkaya showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 47 minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tunç Akkaya stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gianluca Balla in the 55th minute of play forced SSV Ulm 1846's goalkeeper Timo Courtois to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SSV Ulm 1846's Tunç Akkaya got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Szilárd Újváry got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Timo Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gianluca Balla in the 63rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tunç Akkaya in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pavlos Konstantakakis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Szilárd Újváry came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Timo Courtois could save by the left post. After 77 played minutes SSV Ulm 1846 got a freekick which was hit by Alex Kopf. Tunç Akkaya struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Pavlos Konstantakakis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SSV Ulm 1846. After having played for 90 minutes, Tunç Akkaya managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SSV Ulm 1846's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tunç Akkaya was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 97 minutes into the game, Alberigo Sessa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Pavlos Konstantakakis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hamburg Fighters players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SSV Ulm 1846.
