After a defensive mix-up in Fire Devils's zone, Mauro Primeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olaf Geiger came out of the goal and Mauro Primeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian got control of the ball when Zlatko Ibrahimović tried to sneak it across the goal line. Robin Andermatt kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 19thth minute of the game Iosif Vornic who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Poli Timisoara's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Samuel Giger was slow to take the kick. During this time Fire Devils's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Samuel Giger almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian did a great save. When Fire Devils's Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. It looked like a certain goal, but the audience witnessed a really smashing save by Olaf Geiger when he caught the ball only just under the crossbar. Mauro Primeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ovidiu Adrian made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Iosif Vornic sent off a good shot on target. Horst-Peter Unterberger made a great header on Poli Timisoara's corner, it was just that Fire Devils's Olaf Geiger managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 48th minute, Mauro Primeiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Poli Timisoara fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mauro Primeiro made a kick off. The supporters of Poli Timisoara booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Giger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olaf Geiger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horst-Peter Unterberger in the 54th minute of the match. Tiger De Hond had several of the Fire Devils's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 57 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Olaf Geiger as he didn't even see the shot coming. Fire Devils made a substitution. Benjamin Kreyenbühl replaced Robin Andermatt. 61 minutes into the match, Poli Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Dariusz Nalaskowski came free, but Ovidiu Adrian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Mauro Primeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olaf Geiger was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mauro Primeiro in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olaf Geiger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ovidiu Adrian stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmílson Gaúcho's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. 83 minutes into the match, Poli Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Edmílson Gaúcho came free, but Ovidiu Adrian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84thth minute of the game Edmílson Gaúcho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dariusz Nalaskowski in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ovidiu Adrian saved Poli Timisoara from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Dariusz Nalaskowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ovidiu Adrian was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Poli Timisoara had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
