The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Wilhelm Nienhaus got the match started through his kick off. In the 6th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Matuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Elzer in the 15th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Lothar Heber in the 16th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by SV Bad Harzburg's Jurek Ohrem. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Elzer, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. If Kristian Oswald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Matuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SV Bad Harzburg's Jacek Matuch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 30th minute of play. Hertha 1969 were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after SV Bad Harzburg's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Zé Paulo da Silva took the corner. Zé Paulo da Silva made a great header on Hertha 1969's corner, it was just that SV Bad Harzburg's Jacek Matuch managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 34th minute of play forced SV Bad Harzburg's goalkeeper Jacek Matuch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacek Matuch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristian Oswald in the 38th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Jörg Hannemann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes into the match, SV Bad Harzburg's goal looked a bit too open when Wilhelm Nienhaus came free, but Jacek Matuch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Lars Schira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Silvestre Loi made a kick off. Jacek Matuch was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Wilhelm Nienhaus showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 53 minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Wilhelm Nienhaus dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jacek Matuch, 0-2. If Jörg Hannemann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristian Oswald could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Jacek Matuch made a huge save. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind SV Bad Harzburg's goalkeeper Jacek Matuch, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jacek Matuch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 70th minute of the match. Jacek Matuch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 73rd minute of play. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvestre Loi, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Wilhelm Nienhaus took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Jacek Matuch to make any attempt to save it. In the 83rd minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Matuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hertha 1969 made a substitution. Rupert Heidingsfelder replaced Wilhelm Nienhaus. After 86 minutes SV Bad Harzburg's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zé Paulo da Silva who took care of the corner kick. Rune Jarstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvestre Loi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rupert Heidingsfelder got free with Jacek Matuch in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hertha 1969 were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after SV Bad Harzburg's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Zé Paulo da Silva took the corner.
