Wilson Cassia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benê Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Denílson Leite charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Denílson Leite the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 5th match minute, A.A. Francana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denílson Leite to maneuver through the defense. João Vítor Linhares struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Wilson Cassia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MINEIROS. After some careless play in the A.A. Francana defense, Joel Quadros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Cassia. The A.A. Francana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Cassia should have stopped the shot. When João Adolfo Leite fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.A. Francana's protests and gave João Adolfo Leite a yellow card for diving instead. After 12 played minutes A.A. Francana got a freekick which was hit by João Adolfo Leite. MINEIROS's João Vítor Linhares shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 13th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Wilson Cassia but with some difficulty. Kiko Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kiko Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to A.A. Francana getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Kiko Santos hit a great ball. After 16 played minutes A.A. Francana got a freekick which was hit by Cido Vinhas. MINEIROS's Serginho Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Bocanegra in the 18th minute of play. When Válbson Soeiro fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.A. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Quadros got free with Wilson Cassia in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wilson Cassia yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Wilson Cassia was a little too slow when Toninho Goiano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 3-0. When MINEIROS's Toninho Goiano in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye A.A. After 47 played minutes, MINEIROS's William Guerreiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wilson Cassia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MINEIROS reached it. A.A. Francana's Wilson Cassia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Quadros in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luizão Bocanegra to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes A.A. Francana got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Leite. Wilson Cassia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toninho Goiano in the 57th minute of the match. In the 59th minute of the match MINEIROS got a corner. A.A. Francana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. João Vítor Linhares ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that João Vítor Linhares got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilson Cassia quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's Válbson Soeiro got a free kick in the 59th minute. 62 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when William Guerreiro came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Cassia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toninho Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After 68 played minutes MINEIROS got a freekick which was hit by William Guerreiro. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Joel Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot. MINEIROS's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Quadros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Cassia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 86thth minute of the game Toninho Goiano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but A.A. Francana's Wilson Cassia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Benê Amorim scored 4-0 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Cassia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 91st minute Toninho Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Cassia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Joel Quadros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benê Amorim in the 93rd minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Wilson Cassia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the game, Toninho Goiano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Wilson Cassia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. MINEIROS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
