The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Curiphila Eagles's Kiko Mattos got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Naldo Costa stood somewhat misplaced when Joãozinho Pernambucano came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 4 minute. Curiphila Eagles's Naldo Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 8th minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Joãozinho Pernambucano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Naldo Costa. Curiphila Eagles's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joãozinho Pernambucano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After 13 minutes, Gerson da Rocha made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Curiphila Eagles's Naldo Costa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Joãozinho Pernambucano let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 16th minute shot 4-0 at rihgt post. In the 19th minute, Kiko Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Palmares Futebol Clube's Cafu Donato sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Naldo Costa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Joãozinho Pernambucano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Naldo Costa having to make a save. Naldo Costa made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Joãozinho Pernambucano sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Palmares Futebol Clube booed when Curiphila Eagles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murilo Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 31 played minutes, Palmares Futebol Clube's Dorian Nogueira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Naldo Costa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palmares Futebol Clube reached it. A well placed Joãozinho Pernambucano short distance shot in the 35th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. When Ismael Secco came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Palmares Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ismael Secco couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute, Palmares Futebol Clube's Joãozinho Pernambucano ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Naldo Costa. Naldo Costa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 7-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 8-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Joãozinho Pernambucano came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Palmares Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joãozinho Pernambucano couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cafu Donato in the 52nd minute of play forced Curiphila Eagles's goalkeeper Naldo Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 55 minutes, Gerson da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmares Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerson da Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 60th minute Joãozinho Pernambucano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Naldo Costa saved Curiphila Eagles from getting behind. Joãozinho Pernambucano scored 10-0 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Naldo Costa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Palmares Futebol Clube's Alfredo Botelho was substituted for Oswaldo Sena. Murilo Paiva hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the game, Palmares Futebol Clube's João Vítor Sena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Naldo Costa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 11-0. The Palmares Futebol Clube fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when Palmares Futebol Clube's Gerson da Rocha looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 12-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 80 played minutes Palmares Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Cafu Donato. Leonardo Paz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flavinho Paranaense in the 81st minute of the match. 83 minutes into the match, João Vítor Sena had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Naldo Costa. Curiphila Eagles's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Vítor Sena was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 13-0. In the 87th minute, Joãozinho Pernambucano made a precise shot to the right of Naldo Costa. Curiphila Eagles's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 14-0. Naldo Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 92nd minute of the match. 95 minutes into the game, Gerson da Rocha cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 15-0. Naldo Costa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Palmares Futebol Clube walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
