It was Leonardo Cordero who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Celta de Virgos's Leonardo Cordero to fire away a dangerous shot which Basri İhtiyar despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Basri İhtiyar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruben Gomez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Celta de Virgos defense, Fermin Dolfo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zacarias Ascencio. The Celta de Virgos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zacarias Ascencio should have stopped the shot. Benny Niva came free with the goalkeeper in the 43rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Basri İhtiyar could save by the left post. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Atilla Bumin Hirfanlı made the kick off in the second half. Dario Elivareo replaced Ruben Gomez. After a defensive mix-up in Yalapa's zone, David Astudillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basri İhtiyar came out of the goal and David Astudillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Basri İhtiyar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Astudillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Atilla Bumin Hirfanlı who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 82ndth minute tested the skills of Zacarias Ascencio when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Yalapa made a substitution. Carlos Herrera replaced Atilla Bumin Hirfanlı. In the 85th minute Yalapa were awarded a corner. Fabian Rosalio went to the cornerflag to take it. 87 minutes into the game, Celta de Virgos's David Astudillo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Basri İhtiyar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Basri İhtiyar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Astudillo in the 91st minute of play. The Yalapa players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Celta de Virgos from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
