Nestor Quintal was out of position in the 11 minute of play, and Lino Castel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lino Castel really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Independente FC were furious when Nilmar Rosa was red carded, 14 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Bruno Baristo took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Nestor Quintal to make any attempt to save it. Through an outstanding action, after 22 minutes, Nestor Quintal successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Castel in the 25th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Nestor Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Romeu Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nestor Quintal made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Jeremias Napier sent off a good shot on target. Independente FC's José Carlos Tepedino pulled a muscle in his back after 42 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Independente FC's Miguel Negri was substituted for José Carlos Tepedino. In the 45th minute of the match Inácio das Neves sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elvio Niva skillfully saved the ball. After 47 played minutes Ⓕⓤⓢⓘⓞⓝ ⒻⒸ got a freekick which was hit by Julio Olarticoechea.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Carlos de Azevedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Olarticoechea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Quintal having to interfere. In the 53rd minute, Romeu Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Independente FC's Nestor Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvestre Veronica in the 56th minute of play. After 57 played minutes Ⓕⓤⓢⓘⓞⓝ ⒻⒸ got a freekick which was hit by Julio Olarticoechea. 59 minutes into the match, Ⓕⓤⓢⓘⓞⓝ ⒻⒸ's goalkeeper Elvio Niva had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilberto Gonçalves. 60 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Adrio came free, but Nestor Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Túlio Domingues charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Túlio Domingues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Túlio Domingues kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Jeremias Napier made a precise shot to the right of Nestor Quintal. Independente FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Independente FC's Nestor Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremias Napier in the 72nd minute of play. When Lino Castel came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Ⓕⓤⓢⓘⓞⓝ ⒻⒸ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lino Castel couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Zé Carlos de Azevedo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Elvio Niva. That made the score 7-1 in the 83 minute of play. Jeremias Napier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nestor Quintal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lino Castel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nestor Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremias Napier in the 92nd minute of the match. If Jeremias Napier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
