In the 7th minute Nelsinho Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Mateus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Teodelina FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Placido Kauldi hit a great ball. In the 8th minute, Nelsinho Marinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Palestra do Interior's Fernando Pras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Modesto Tercero in the 9th minute of play. Zé Rafael hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Teodelina FC's Humberto Remicio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The supporters of Teodelina FC booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perivaldo Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute, Leon Bonifaco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alvaro Mateus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perivaldo Carneiro in the 22nd minute of play. A collision led to Teodelina FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Humberto Rayman hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nelsinho Marinho in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alvaro Mateus prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 25thth minute of the game Nelsinho Marinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Teodelina FC's Alvaro Mateus was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alvaro Mateus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo Pirani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th match minute, Teodelina FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Remicio to maneuver through the defense. Alvaro Mateus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perivaldo Carneiro in the 28th minute of play. Doni Pimenta charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Doni Pimenta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 34 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Ronaldo Pirani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alvaro Mateus made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Alvaro Mateus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Marinho in the 47th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Humberto Remicio made a kick off. Doni Pimenta got his second yellow card in the match during the 50th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Doni Pimenta hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Alvaro Mateus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. If Ronaldo Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sergio Conrao hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Richard Ríos, 60 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. David Vale replaced Alex Toscano. Alvaro Mateus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Perivaldo Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei Brito in the 68th minute of play forced Teodelina FC's goalkeeper Alvaro Mateus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nelsinho Marinho hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After having played for 81 minutes, Perivaldo Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestra do Interior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Perivaldo Carneiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 85 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Sérgio Cruz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alvaro Mateus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
