A very good chance. 10 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Alejandro Rufo came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Branislav Velchevski came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijón's Alejandro Rufo. But to his dismay, Alejandro Rufo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Branislav Velchevski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademar Rocha in the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Ademar Rocha came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the game, Sporting de Gijón's Ademar Rocha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Branislav Velchevski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 20th minute, Saturnino Curcio made a precise shot to the right of Branislav Velchevski. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Koulis Lalas kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Branislav Velchevski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademar Rocha in the 26th minute of the match. Esteban Ekaitz made in the 28th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Saturnino Curcio. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saturnino Curcio in the 34th minute of play. After having played for 36 minutes, Elpidio Francis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elpidio Francis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Branislav Velchevski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Rocha in the 42nd minute of play. After 45 played minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a freekick which was hit by Esteban Iztal. Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

The supporters of ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Fernendo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Venancio Estavan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Venancio Estavan in the 54th minute of play. Branislav Velchevski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Darío Moreno in the 55th minute. In the 56th minute, Denis Bonadona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Matias Bilintx replaced Alejandro Rufo. Denis Bonadona hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Koulis Lalas managed to get in a good position for a shot. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters rose to their feet, but Koulis Lalas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Fernendo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Esteban Iztal got a free kick in the 60th minute. If Darío Moreno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Esteban Iztal hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting a goal against them. In the 70th minute, Elpidio Francis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Fernendo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 81st minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Fernendo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 83rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Darío Moreno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Branislav Velchevski made a huge save. After a rather tough play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Miguel Prosperi got a free kick in the 87th minute. 88 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Matias Bilintx came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Matias Bilintx's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Branislav Velchevski was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Bilintx in the 95th minute of play. In the 95th minute, Ademar Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sporting de Gijón were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
