Atlético Montserrat's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ali Haydar Tolgunay was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Gregorio Lehior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Boruta in the 54th minute of play. Gregorio Lehior showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Owen in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th minute Michael Owen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gregorio Lehior saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 62 minutes, Fortunato De Laurentiis made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. With an all-out effort, Atlético Montserrat's Gregorio Lehior threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Michael Owen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gregorio Lehior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zula Jajesniak in the 96th minute of play. Atlético Montserrat were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
