Dante Fernendo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Croti in the 13th minute of play. Inge Boll scored 0-2 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Fernendo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dante Fernendo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Riki Čapo, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute Ademar Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Hägg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Bajenland getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Inge Boll hit a great ball. Dante Fernendo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adriano Croti, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 35th minute of the match Sporting de Gijón got a corner. Bajenland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Saturnino Curcio ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Saturnino Curcio got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Emil Hägg quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adriano Croti in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Adriano Croti made a precise shot to the right of Dante Fernendo. Sporting de Gijón's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adriano Croti to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Riki Čapo. Dante Fernendo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bajenland. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Bajenland walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
