Roni Van Hoyveldt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Mendes in the 44th minute of play. Joaquim Marques took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roni Van Hoyveldt. Roni Van Hoyveldt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joaquim Marques to strike the kick off in the second half. Murilo Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Van Mechelen in the 50th minute of play. After 54 played minutes YR Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Benoit Clinckspoor. After 56 minutes, Joaquim Marques made it 0-6 with a short kick to the right side. YR Mechelen's Roni Van Hoyveldt tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Luiz Guilherme Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roni Van Hoyveldt having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Leo Van Mechelen came free, but Murilo Peixoto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Celso Secco's late challenge caught a YR Mechelen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Celso Secco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th match minute, Várzea F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Secco to maneuver through the defense.
