With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Haedo in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ilkka Markkula saved Club Deportes Santa Cruz from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Club Olimpia's Ilkka Markkula threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Roque Gora, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Alfredo Aguilar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yan Zhi Chuan in the 64th minute of play. Ilkka Markkula showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Haedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Yan Zhi Chuan might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfredo Aguilar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yan Zhi Chuan ran back to his position shaking his head. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Ilkka Markkula proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Club Deportes Santa Cruz from getting a goal against them. Ilkka Markkula showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Haedo in the 72nd minute of the match. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Olimpia the free kick. In the 81st match minute, Club Deportes Santa Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvio Navia to maneuver through the defense. Silvio Navia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Alfredo Aguilar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ilkka Markkula made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Denis Inestrosa sent off a good shot on target. After 90 played minutes Club Deportes Santa Cruz got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Gebhard. Yan Zhi Chuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Alfredo Aguilar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Club Olimpia played a much better game than Club Deportes Santa Cruz and deserved their victory. The Club Deportes Santa Cruz players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
