Enrique Lekubegi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Errapel in the 2nd minute of the match. After 4 played minutes Plumerillo got a freekick which was hit by Anastasio Felipo. Conrado Ubarna took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Aaron Iban. Plumerillo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Genaro Jakue who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 7thth minute tested the skills of Enrique Lekubegi when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Plumerillo getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Valentin Mergildo hit a great ball. When Santos Ioritz fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palermo's protests and gave Santos Ioritz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th minute Baldomero Gomez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Lekubegi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Palermo booed when Plumerillo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anastasio Felipo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Prospero Rubio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aaron Iban was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Santos Ioritz hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Enrique Lekubegi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedicto Gombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Aaron Iban didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Fero went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After the first half Palermo were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfredo Fero was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genaro Jakue in the 55th minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Enrique Lekubegi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enrique Lekubegi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genaro Jakue in the 57th minute of play. In the 63rd match minute, Plumerillo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genaro Jakue to maneuver through the defense. Aaron Iban stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfredo Fero's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. After having played for 69 minutes, Santos Ioritz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palermo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santos Ioritz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 71st match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Prospero Rubio to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Baldomero Gomez during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genaro Jakue in the 84th minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Enrique Lekubegi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 88 played minutes Plumerillo got a freekick which was hit by Honorio Serafo. After 88 played minutes, Palermo's Conrado Ubarna shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Aaron Iban came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palermo reached it. In the 90th minute, Palermo's Alfredo Fero ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Aaron Iban. Aaron Iban yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Plumerillo's zone, Prospero Rubio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aaron Iban came out of the goal and Prospero Rubio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
