Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Arrifana FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jacinto Carneiro came free, but Hélio Póvoas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 40 minutes into the game, AQUAE FLAVIAE's Jacinto Carneiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélio Póvoas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. AQUAE FLAVIAE's Yuri Coelho was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 46th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Arrifana FC's José Taborda was substituted for Alfredo Igrejas. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jacinto Carneiro to make the kick off. If Adélio Festas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 87 minutes of play, Arrifana FC's Hu Jian Yi made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alfred Walmarsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hélio Póvoas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Avelino Macieira in the 90th minute of play. Jordão Vilar charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jordão Vilar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 92nd match minute, Arrifana FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jordão Vilar to maneuver through the defense. Hélio Póvoas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yuri Coelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. Arrifana FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though AQUAE FLAVIAE had controlled the match.
