Doni Pimenta kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, Vasco FC's Tadeu Botelho broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. A hard shot 22 in the game by Nelsinho Marinho from a close distance when the talented Wellington Barbosa managed to make a qualified save. Vasco FC's players were relieved. Tiago Gabriel Mesquita hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelsinho Marinho in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wellington Barbosa saved Vasco FC from getting behind. Wellington Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho Marinho in the 32nd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Vasco FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Marinho came free, but Wellington Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vasco FC's goalie prevented a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gil Motta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Fernando Pras had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tiago Gabriel Mesquita. The audience was convinced that Nelsinho Marinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wellington Barbosa was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. In the 56th minute, Raphael de Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diego Teixeira's late challenge caught a Palestra do Interior's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diego Teixeira helped the player get up and apologised. After 61 played minutes Vasco FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Teixeira. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Dinei Brito replaced Ronaldo Pirani. A collision led to Vasco FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Diego Teixeira hit a great ball. In the 69th minute Nelsinho Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maurinho Matorin hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Raphael de Medeiros's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fernando Pras firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 78th minute, Nelsinho Marinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vasco FC's Gil Motta suffered a concussion in the 82nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Zé Rafael's late challenge caught a Vasco FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dinei Brito took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wellington Barbosa. Wellington Barbosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Nelsinho Marinho sped through Vasco FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wellington Barbosa. Dinei Brito succeeded in the game's 94th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-0. Palestra do Interior's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
