The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Nelsinho Marinho notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of S.D. After a rather tough play, S.D. Bajen's Abraham Boyer got a free kick in the 14th minute. 22 minutes into the game, Ronaldo Pirani cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Rodrick Layton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 24th minute, Richard Ríos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodrick Layton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perivaldo Carneiro in the 27th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, S.D. Bajen's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Marinho came free, but Rodrick Layton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Nelsinho Marinho hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erik Clifton in the 39th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Fernando Pras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S.D. Bajen's Rodrick Layton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelsinho Marinho in the 46th minute of play. S.D. Bajen's Josh Williamson got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Palestra do Interior were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Nelsinho Marinho made the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes S.D. Bajen got a freekick which was hit by Adolfo Harris. Perivaldo Carneiro charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Perivaldo Carneiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 55 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Perivaldo Carneiro. After 58 played minutes S.D. Bajen got a freekick which was hit by Erik Clifton. In the 62nd match minute, S.D. Bajen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octavio Fournier to maneuver through the defense. Palestra do Interior's Valdomiro Diniz was substituted for Sérgio Cruz. 63 minutes into the match, S.D. Bajen's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Marinho came free, but Rodrick Layton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nelsinho Marinho got free with Rodrick Layton in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fernando Pras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavio Fournier in the 83rd minute of the match. When Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho, in the 86th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Palestra do Interior. Palestra do Interior's Carlos Eduardo de Amaral was substituted for Nelsinho Marinho. Carlos Eduardo de Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Rodrick Layton made a huge save.
