Afonsinho Freire charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonsinho Freire the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cristian Salles made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Maria Quadros in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedrinho de Queirós prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Antônio Vargas fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alfa FC's protests and gave Antônio Vargas a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Alfa FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Antônio Vargas hit a great ball. Alfa FC's Antônio Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 61 minutes into the match, Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Fernandão Penha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ferreirinha Vinhas.
