The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 10 played minutes, Shark FC - FSCMZ's Robinho Prado shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frédson Amorim came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Shark FC - FSCMZ reached it. The audience was convinced that Nando da Costa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frédson Amorim was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Frédson Amorim came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Shark FC - FSCMZ's Nando da Costa. But to his dismay, Nando da Costa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Frédson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nando da Costa in the 19th minute. 24 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goalkeeper Frédson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Márcio Garcia. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 30th minute, but Frédson Amorim got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Itajaí Football Club hanging dry this time. After a rather tough play, Shark FC - FSCMZ's Nando da Costa got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 36th match minute, Shark FC - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Márcio Garcia to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Shark FC - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Márcio Garcia hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elivélton Berger was the one to do the kick off. Itajaí Football Club's Frédson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Márcio Garcia in the 52nd minute of play. Glauco Velloso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Reis in the 54th minute of the match. In the 56th minute, Clemente Pereira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With 68 minutes on the clock, Manuel Pinho commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. A collision led to Itajaí Football Club getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Manuel Pinho hit a great ball. When Magno Linhares came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Shark FC - FSCMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Magno Linhares couldn't finish the play. Jarbas Hermes got a throw-in 73 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Christiano Cearense. After 76 played minutes Shark FC - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Queiroz. Shark FC - FSCMZ's Glauco Velloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Reis in the 80th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juarês Gerber got free with Glauco Velloso in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Shark FC - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Robinho Prado hit a great ball. After 91 played minutes, Itajaí Football Club's César Pinheiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Glauco Velloso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. After some careless play in the Itajaí Football Club defense, Nando da Costa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Frédson Amorim. The Itajaí Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frédson Amorim should have stopped the shot.
