In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Indonesia's goalkeeper Nanang Wardhana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dale Kirkpatrick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Nanang Wardhana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. USA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ross Caldwell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gery Burhanuddin got free with Lyle Flanagan in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 55 played minutes USA got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Driver. The supporters of Indonesia booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Driver didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Indonesia's zone, Darnell Joyce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nanang Wardhana came out of the goal and Darnell Joyce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Indonesia's Hanung Sephtianda got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Willard Addison got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Indonesia's Dari Mana got a free kick in the 75th minute. 83 minutes into the match, Willard Addison had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nanang Wardhana. Indonesia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Willard Addison was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 91st minute, Willard Addison made a precise shot to the right of Nanang Wardhana. Indonesia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Amir Khalid blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lyle Flanagan having to make a save.
