Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mesut Özil kicked off to start the match. Tomislav Kardum came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Moldova's George Baraboi. But to his dismay, George Baraboi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 Moldova! Dragos Enicov didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mladen Gambiroža went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 14th minute George Baraboi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomislav Kardum saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dragos Enicov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Šandor Dajčić in the 17th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kevin De Bruyne during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th minute, Mesut Özil ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tomislav Kardum was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. U21 Moldova's Dragos Enicov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Moldova from getting a goal against them. Mesut Özil hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute, George Baraboi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd match minute, U21 Moldova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantin Stegaru to maneuver through the defense. Stanko Jertec's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 45thth minute, Dragos Enicov skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

U21 Moldova's Strong Junel was substituted for Ruslan Cepoi. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stanko Jertec stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Croatia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mesut Özil was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Moldova's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Sandu Musteatã managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. U21 Moldova made a substitution. Emil Scobioalã replaced Mesut Özil. Đuro Bernardić kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to U21 Croatia getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Šandor Dajčić hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanko Jertec in the 70th minute of play forced U21 Moldova's goalkeeper Dragos Enicov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Tonko Grković notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of U21 Moldova's Dragos Enicov. Dragos Enicov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to U21 Moldova getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. George Baraboi hit a great ball. In the 85th minute Šandor Dajčić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dragos Enicov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 87 played minutes U21 Croatia got a freekick which was hit by Šandor Dajčić. After 89 minutes of play U21 Croatia's Kevin De Bruyne was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 90th minute, Kevin De Bruyne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomislav Kardum made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Sandu Musteatã sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the U21 Croatia defense, Sandu Musteatã kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tomislav Kardum. The U21 Croatia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tomislav Kardum should have stopped the shot. U21 Moldova's Boris Castravet got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The U21 Croatia supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching U21 Moldova's performance. The match ended with a win for U21 Moldova.
