Ni Jun Sha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Szimbas Lejonflock's Alexander Del Piero got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Szimbas Lejonflock's Ni Jun Sha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Ahrem in the 36th minute of play. Gary Lineker kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hinnerk Dietrich to make the kick off. With a little luck, Szimbas Lejonflock's Ni Jun Sha got control of the ball when Kurt Ahrem tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ni Jun Sha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hinnerk Dietrich in the 53rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Alex Mansilha put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Ni Jun Sha. Paul Heyckendorf took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven Morat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ni Jun Sha made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Gary Lineker sent off a good shot on target. 91 minutes into the match, Szimbas Lejonflock's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Mansilha came free, but Ni Jun Sha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The Academica Pulheim players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
