In the 16th minute Jerry Williams shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sture Abrahamsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gianluigi p'Bitek hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Gianluigi p'Bitek received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ronnie Hellström came out and tried to block the shot, but Gianluigi p'Bitek slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. In the 23rd match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Keegan to maneuver through the defense. Nytäppet Fc's Sture Abrahamsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Håkan Kruse in the 26th minute of play. 26 minutes into the game, Skövde AIK's Håkan Kruse nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sture Abrahamsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With a little luck, Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström got control of the ball when Gianluigi p'Bitek tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 34th minute Sture Fanström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Hellström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Williams in the 35th minute of play forced Nytäppet Fc's goalkeeper Sture Abrahamsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Gianluigi p'Bitek came free, but Ronnie Hellström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gianluigi p'Bitek might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ronnie Hellström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gianluigi p'Bitek ran back to his position shaking his head. Egídio Fernandez charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gianluigi p'Bitek made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gianluigi p'Bitek in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronnie Hellström prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A nice corner shot did that Ilias Markatos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ronnie Hellström quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Håkan Kruse made a great header on Skövde AIK's corner, it was just that Nytäppet Fc's Sture Abrahamsson managed to reach the ball for a save. Jerry Williams could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Sture Abrahamsson made a huge save. After 96 minutes Nytäppet Fc's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Kurt Hamrin who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Skövde AIK's corner Kurt Hamrin fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Sture Abrahamsson quite easily take care of the ball. The Skövde AIK supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Skövde AIK would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
