With his leg Santiago Meckel managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Sheriff's Giorgos Lagos fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Hanot in the 14th minute of play forced Sheriff's goalkeeper Apostolis Kaliasis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alekos Lazarakis came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Sheriff fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alekos Lazarakis couldn't finish the play. Sheriff's Apostolis Kaliasis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Ramalho in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Sheriff's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Hanot came free, but Apostolis Kaliasis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Ramalho in the 21st minute of play forced Sheriff's goalkeeper Apostolis Kaliasis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 42 minutes on the clock, Romulo Nofre commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 42nd minute, one of Trapiche:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Trapiche. Trapiche:s Santiago Meckel showed great skill when he stopped Dimitris Kapopoulos:s penalty. After a defensive mix-up in Sheriff's zone, Pedro Pasculli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Apostolis Kaliasis came out of the goal and Pedro Pasculli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sheriff made a substitution. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Santiago Meckel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Minas Bissias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan Ramalho got free with Apostolis Kaliasis in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Minas Bissias in the 87th minute of play forced Trapiche's goalkeeper Santiago Meckel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Giorgos Lagos put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Santiago Meckel. Trapiche's Santiago Meckel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giorgos Lagos in the 95th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Trapiche players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sheriff.
