The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. C. A. Independiente's Luis Alberto Islas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Selmo in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, Delmar Manex notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of C. A. Independiente's Luis Alberto Islas. Luis Alberto Islas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Sebastián Rambert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. El Fortín de Floresta's Lorenzo Macias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastián Rambert in the 12th minute of play. El Fortín de Floresta's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Sebastián Rambert scored to the left of an out of position Lorenzo Macias, making the score, 1-1. Sebastián Rambert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lorenzo Macias made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Sebastián Rambert sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Melvin Ruffin during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st minute Sebastián Rambert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lorenzo Macias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of C. A. Independiente booed when El Fortín de Floresta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delmar Manex didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute Sebastián Rambert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lorenzo Macias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Sebastián Rambert had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lorenzo Macias. El Fortín de Floresta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sebastián Rambert was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Melvin Ruffin kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Selmo in the 32nd minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Luis Alberto Islas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hector Selmo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luis Alberto Islas having to interfere. C. A. Independiente's Sebastián Rambert got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sebastián Rambert might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lorenzo Macias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastián Rambert ran back to his position shaking his head. Sandy Spaulding received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Lorenzo Macias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sandy Spaulding made a kick off. A collision led to El Fortín de Floresta getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Eleuterio Rio hit a great ball. Lorenzo Macias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián Rambert in the 56th minute of play. Lorenzo Macias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enoch Light, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Lorenzo Macias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastián Rambert in the 60th minute of the match. Lorenzo Macias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián Rambert in the 64th minute of play. If Lucio Stanislao had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eleuterio Rio hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastián Rambert in the 70th minute of play forced El Fortín de Floresta's goalkeeper Lorenzo Macias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. El Fortín de Floresta's Marco Paulin was substituted for Delmar Manex. El Fortín de Floresta's Eleuterio Palben was substituted for Lucio Stanislao. El Fortín de Floresta made a substitution. Eliseo Frutos replaced Afonsinho do Vale. Eleuterio Rio made in the 75th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by C. A. Independiente's Antonio Voss. After some careless play in the El Fortín de Floresta defense, Sebastián Rambert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lorenzo Macias. The El Fortín de Floresta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lorenzo Macias should have stopped the shot. Enoch Light hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Selmo in the 81st minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Luis Alberto Islas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eleuterio Rio made in the 83rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Hector Selmo. Pedro Monzón hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as El Fortín de Floresta's Eleuterio Palben slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luis Alberto Islas. That made the score 3-2 after 87 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Hector Selmo managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Fortín de Floresta's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Selmo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luis Alberto Islas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sebastián Rambert struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Lorenzo Macias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C. A. Independiente.
