After 15 played minutes Manchester United F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Gonzalo Higuaín. Evrosi Popsavov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matei Onaca in the 20th minute of play. Bogdan Lobonț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonzalo Higuaín in the 26th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Horaţiu Ştefulescu in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evrosi Popsavov saved Manchester United F.C. from getting behind. 33 minutes into the game, Stiinta-Univ.'s Matei Onaca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Evrosi Popsavov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Cazimir Pânzaru struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Evrosi Popsavov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stiinta-Univ.. Gonzalo Higuaín fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bogdan Lobonț having to interfere. When Grigor Tzokanov fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Manchester United F.C.'s protests and gave Grigor Tzokanov a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 played minutes Manchester United F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Grigor Tzokanov. After the first half Stiinta-Univ. were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Matei Onaca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Stiinta-Univ.'s Cazimir Pânzaru got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Manchester United F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gonzalo Higuaín in the 57th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goal looked a bit too open when Vladko Pipkov came free, but Bogdan Lobonț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute of the match Manchester United F.C. got a corner. Stiinta-Univ.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gonzalo Higuaín ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vladko Pipkov in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bogdan Lobonț saved Stiinta-Univ. from getting behind. Manchester United F.C.'s Evrosi Popsavov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Manchester United F.C. from getting a goal against them. In the 68th minute, Matei Onaca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Stiinta-Univ.'s Bogdan Lobonț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladko Pipkov in the 69th minute of play. The supporters of Manchester United F.C. booed when Stiinta-Univ. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cazimir Pânzaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manchester United F.C.'s Vladko Pipkov got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Matei Onaca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evrosi Popsavov having to interfere.
