Raimundo Gorka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Goiano having to interfere. After 18 minutes, Cristo Piarres mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Timo! and the Portuguesa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cristo Piarres kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Portuguesa's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luís Guilherme Valadares in the 21st minute. The corner ended in Luís Guilherme Valadares almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Timo!'s Teodosio Nicholas did a great save. After some careless play in the Portuguesa defense, Lucio Franco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruy Goiano. The Portuguesa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruy Goiano should have stopped the shot. In the 35th match minute, Timo! was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amancio Ceandro to maneuver through the defense. Zé Paulo Mendes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Teodosio Nicholas made a huge save. Portuguesa's Ruy Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Franco in the 41st minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joélson Rossi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Arantes in the 56th minute of play forced Timo!'s goalkeeper Teodosio Nicholas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 61st minute of the game. One of Portuguesa:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Timo!:s goal. In the 63rd minute there was a penalty for Timo!. Roberto Muc stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ruy Goiano. 1-4. 72 minutes into the game, Portuguesa's Sidnei Faria nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Teodosio Nicholas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. In the 75th minute Cipriano Stanislao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st match minute, Portuguesa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vitório Donato to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Timo! booed when Portuguesa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joélson Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teodosio Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidnei Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Portuguesa's Charles Arantes got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 96th minute, Joélson Rossi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Teodosio Nicholas was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-4.
