With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joélson Matos in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Armand Pelsers saved Eendracht Vooruit from getting behind. The referee felt a red card was in order, 52 minutes into the game, when Fernandão Teixeira put in a rough tackle. 51 minutes into the game, one of Arsenal MGK:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 53rd minute there was a penalty for Eendracht Vooruit. Timothy Van Goethem stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zé Augusto Varela. 2-1. Paulus Reynaerts could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Zé Augusto Varela made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Eendracht Vooruit's zone, Bebeto de Sena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armand Pelsers came out of the goal and Bebeto de Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zé Augusto Varela was out of position in the 91 minute of play, and Bas Van der Vloedt capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Bas Van der Vloedt really showed his touch with that goal: 2-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Eendracht Vooruit eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
