The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Tomás Berau got free with Lan Šorli in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. U. de Tarapacá were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after HIT Gorica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Xalvador Quijada took the corner. With a little luck, HIT Gorica's Lan Šorli got control of the ball when Alfredo Saralegui tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Rastislav Tomič fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored HIT Gorica's protests and gave Rastislav Tomič a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of U. de Tarapacá booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rastislav Tomič didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the match, HIT Gorica's goalkeeper Lan Šorli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xalvador Quijada. HIT Gorica's Lan Šorli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blanco Paris in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, HIT Gorica's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Tomás Berau came free, but Lan Šorli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Blanco Paris in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lan Šorli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alfredo Saralegui fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lan Šorli having to interfere. After a rather tough play, U. de Tarapacá's Blanco Paris got a free kick in the 46th minute. The supporters of U. de Tarapacá booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Istok Šabotić didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Duško Turnšek to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in U. de Tarapacá's zone, Duško Turnšek stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victorio Colipi came out of the goal and Duško Turnšek tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 57 minutes of play HIT Gorica's Rastislav Tomič was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 58th minute, Xalvador Quijada got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 60 minutes into the game, U. de Tarapacá's Alfredo Saralegui nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lan Šorli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Grozdan Mešić hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Lan Šorli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xalvador Quijada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the game, Sefedin Lož was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. HIT Gorica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U. de Tarapacá the free kick. After 72 played minutes HIT Gorica got a freekick which was hit by Sefedin Lož. Alfredo Saralegui recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, HIT Gorica's Tevž Filipović got a free kick in the 77th minute. When the match clock showed 79 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Blanco Paris sped through HIT Gorica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lan Šorli. The U. de Tarapacá fans' excitement grew in the 96th match minute when U. de Tarapacá's Blanco Paris looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. There was no doubt that U. de Tarapacá were the better team. U. de Tarapacá's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
