José Conde took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hílton Vieira. Remedios SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. José Conde's late challenge caught a Remedios SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Conde helped the player get up and apologised. In the 5th minute, José Conde hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hílton Vieira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cássio Madeira's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Aloísio Bastos's late challenge caught a Garanhão do SUL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aloísio Bastos helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Álvaro Calçada in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hílton Vieira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Válter Fantini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Torcato Bentes having to make a save. Zé Augusto Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Torcato Bentes having to interfere. A collision led to Remedios SC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Aloísio Bastos hit a great ball. After the first half Garanhão do SUL were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Augusto Sena was the one to do the kick off. Torcato Bentes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from João Francisco da Rocha went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After 63 played minutes Remedios SC got a freekick which was hit by Zé Augusto Sena. Remedios SC's Hílton Vieira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Remedios SC from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Remedios SC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Aloísio Bastos hit a great ball. Remedios SC's Hílton Vieira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Álvaro Calçada in the 69th minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Válter Fantini came free, but Torcato Bentes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hílton Vieira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Álvaro Calçada went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Torcato Bentes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Augusto Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Garanhão do SUL's zone, Zé Augusto Sena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Torcato Bentes came out of the goal and Zé Augusto Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 88th minute Álvaro Calçada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hílton Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hílton Vieira was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Germano Vasques capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Germano Vasques really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Silvério Brochado hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
