But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Nunes couldn't finish the play. After 14 played minutes PIAUÍ FC got a freekick which was hit by Túlio Munhoz. PIAUÍ FC's Italo Franklin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tião de Medeiros in the 17th minute of play. Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Ruy Penha scored to the left of an out of position Mário Mendonça, making the score, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's zone, Nelson Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mário Mendonça came out of the goal and Nelson Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mário Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After 28 played minutes PIAUÍ FC got a freekick which was hit by Fred Arruda. Italo Franklin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oséas Mineiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG defense, Nelson Nunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mário Mendonça. The Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mário Mendonça should have stopped the shot. Abel Donatello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Mário Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, PIAUÍ FC's Mário Mendonça threw himself towards the right post 40 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Nelson Nunes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Doriva Trevisan hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. 55 minutes into the match, Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Nunes came free, but Mário Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaldo Paranaense might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mário Mendonça. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arnaldo Paranaense ran back to his position shaking his head. Téo Rodrigues charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Téo Rodrigues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Téo Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Nelson Nunes put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mário Mendonça. After 82 minutes, Doriva Trevisan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG and the PIAUÍ FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 86 minutes into the game, PIAUÍ FC's Nelson Nunes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mário Mendonça made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. 89 minutes into the match, Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's goal looked a bit too open when Arnaldo Paranaense came free, but Mário Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, PIAUÍ FC's Nelson Nunes got a free kick in the 91st minute. 94 minutes into the match, Oséas Mineiro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Italo Franklin, 8-1. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. PIAUÍ FC had played much better football throughout.
