But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Romero couldn't finish the play. In the 41st play minute Lino Esiquio came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Emanuel Brandin. 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Clemente Romero was the one to do the kick off.
