The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernandão Linares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. SAO JOANENSE FC's Fernandão Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthijs De Ligt in the 18th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Arso Angelinov notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of SAO JOANENSE FC's Fernandão Linares. Fernandão Linares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. SAO JOANENSE FC's Fernandão Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stoyko Bikov in the 42nd minute of play. In the 48th minute, one of SAO JOANENSE FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SAO JOANENSE FC. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

The wind increased when Stoyko Bikov made the kick off in the second half. Matthijs De Ligt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Fernandão Linares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stoyko Bikov got free with Fernandão Linares in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 71 minutes into the game, Matthijs De Ligt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Fernandão Linares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Matthijs De Ligt in the 76thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fernandão Linares, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arso Angelinov in the 79th minute of play forced SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Fernandão Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st match minute, SAO JOANENSE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baltazar Lago to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho Lara in the 96th minute of play forced CSKA's goalkeeper Edwin van der Saar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. CSKA walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
