After a rather tough play, Real Sociedad's Rudy Puech got a free kick in the 12th minute. Elvio Galtero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from François Vieu, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. François Vieu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Elvio Galtero 26 minutes into the match. François Vieu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Elvio Galtero came out and tried to block the shot, but François Vieu slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 29th minute. If Marciano Francho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nicolas Hoareau made a kick off. Fabio Aresti lost his temper 52 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 51 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Forest Green! Elvio Galtero had in the 53rdth minute some difficulties stopping Elias Fofana's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Real Sociedad's François Vieu got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If François Vieu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elvio Galtero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from François Vieu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Real Sociedad's François Vieu in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Forest Green's goalie prevented a goal. François Vieu struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Elvio Galtero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Sociedad. François Vieu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marco Ginola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uriel Fagondo in the 91st minute of the match. Forest Green's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
