The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Victor Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nat Bukschat, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Bernhard Stammler took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Victor Chilavert to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Vorwärts Lübeck getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Nat Bukschat hit a great ball. Vorwärts Lübeck's Ronny Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Freire in the 14th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Edmundo Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pär Tartemann hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When Vágner Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Leon Sport Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vágner Teixeira couldn't finish the play. Vorwärts Lübeck's Ronny Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Freire in the 46th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfred Boymanns stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Victor Chilavert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfred Boymanns in the 52nd minute of the match. Clemente Arce lost his temper 55 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 55th match minute, Leon Sport Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clemente Arce to maneuver through the defense. Karl Wissing's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Victor Chilavert on his right side and into the goal. 56 minutes into the game it was 2-0. Alex de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronny Jarstein having to interfere. If Antônio Carlos Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68thth minute of the game Alfred Boymanns who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Leon Sport Club's Victor Chilavert was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Emanuel Nittel took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Victor Chilavert. Victor Chilavert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. 76 minutes into the match, Vorwärts Lübeck's goalkeeper Ronny Jarstein had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antônio Carlos Secco. In the 84th minute Alfred Boymanns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Chilavert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vágner Teixeira charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vágner Teixeira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 88 played minutes Leon Sport Club got a freekick which was hit by Vágner Teixeira. In the 89th minute of the match Nat Bukschat sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victor Chilavert skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Alfred Boymanns managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vorwärts Lübeck's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfred Boymanns was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victor Chilavert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alex de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronny Jarstein having to interfere. A collision led to Vorwärts Lübeck getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Bernhard Stammler hit a great ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Leon Sport Club players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vorwärts Lübeck.
