Vitinho Siqueira scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vitinho Cabral, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vitinho Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitinho Siqueira in the 17th minute of play. Papunhas EC's Dagoberto Abraão suffered a sore foot after 19 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Flávio Netto's late challenge caught a Papunhas EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Flávio Netto helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Papunhas EC booed when Internazionale-RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flávio Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Simão Porto fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Papunhas EC's protests and gave Simão Porto a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Internazionale-RS's Narciso dos Santos got a free kick in the 24th minute. A hard shot by Renatinho Barreto from long distance, 35 minutes into the match, got William Moraes's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Papunhas EC's Gonçalo Vieira pulled a muscle in his back after 36 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Régis Valladares fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Internazionale-RS's protests and gave Régis Valladares a yellow card for diving instead. Papunhas EC made a substitution. Chico Mangueira replaced Gonçalo Vieira. In the 41st minute of the match, Rogério Lara tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but William Moraes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rogério Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. William Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Frédson Rosa made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Flávio Netto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Internazionale-RS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Papunhas EC's goalkeeper Vitinho Cabral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Internazionale-RS defense, Frédson Rosa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of William Moraes. The Internazionale-RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that William Moraes should have stopped the shot. 64 minutes into the match, Papunhas EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fernando Paes came free, but Vitinho Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, Vitinho Siqueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vitinho Cabral was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. 71 minutes into the match, Papunhas EC's goalkeeper Vitinho Cabral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vitinho Siqueira. Internazionale-RS's William Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frédson Rosa in the 76th minute of play. Vitinho Siqueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 81 minutes into the match, Papunhas EC's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Netto came free, but Vitinho Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Luís Eduardo Furlan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Papunhas EC's Renatinho Barreto tried to score from far away in the 84th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. William Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frédson Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vitinho Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flávio Netto in the 92nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Internazionale-RS's Gualter Campidelis got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 96th minute Frédson Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Internazionale-RS walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
