The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Cayetano Joanes came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the SMARTS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cayetano Joanes couldn't finish the play. In the 6th minute, Cayetano Joanes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Hílton Vander came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Vila Zumbi - Férias fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hílton Vander couldn't finish the play. After 9 played minutes Vila Zumbi - Férias got a freekick which was hit by Zé Roberto Sousa. The audience was convinced that Cayetano Joanes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovanildo Mendi was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Teodoro Mantilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Pedro Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Vila Zumbi - Férias's Geovanildo Beckenbauer got a free kick in the 31st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Horacio Llin managed to get in a good position for a shot. SMARTS FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Horacio Llin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geovanildo Mendi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 38th minute Jonathan Lluciano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovanildo Mendi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute, Zé Roberto Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Geovanildo Mendi was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Vila Zumbi - Férias booed when SMARTS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesar Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geovanildo Mendi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cayetano Joanes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geovanildo Mendi was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Cayetano Joanes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cayetano Joanes really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. Alexandre Mendes kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Geovanildo Cannavaro hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Cesar Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elano Coutinho in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Teodoro Mantilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 88 minutes into the match, SMARTS FC's goal looked a bit too open when Magno Moreira came free, but Teodoro Mantilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SMARTS FC played a much better game than Vila Zumbi - Férias and deserved their victory. The Vila Zumbi - Férias players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
