S.C.PAULISTA's supporters rose to their feet, but Douglas Meriti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fonso Zotillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Patrick Leite fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored XV de Piracicaba's protests and gave Patrick Leite a yellow card for diving instead. After 20 played minutes XV de Piracicaba got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Leite. In the 21stth minute of the game Afonso Alagoano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but XV de Piracicaba's Fonso Zotillo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Severino Capixaba in the 26th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by S.C.PAULISTA's Fernandinho Melo. After having played for 28 minutes, Humberto Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.C.PAULISTA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Humberto Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Marquez in the 30th minute of play forced S.C.PAULISTA's goalkeeper Gerrit Cronen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. S.C.PAULISTA's Douglas Meriti got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Marquez in the 45th minute of play forced S.C.PAULISTA's goalkeeper Gerrit Cronen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fonso Zotillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Douglas Meriti in the 47th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Gerrit Cronen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 58 minutes XV de Piracicaba's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jorge Neto who took care of the corner kick. Thanks to some nice moves Afonso Alagoano could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Fonso Zotillo however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to XV de Piracicaba getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Luke Skywalker hit a great ball. XV de Piracicaba's Fábio Montoia was substituted for Toninho Galvão. After a rather tough play, XV de Piracicaba's Luke Skywalker got a free kick in the 69th minute. Afonso Alagoano struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Fonso Zotillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.C.PAULISTA. XV de Piracicaba's Fonso Zotillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Douglas Meriti in the 72nd minute of play. XV de Piracicaba made a substitution. Remo Goiano replaced Claudinho Arantes. Patrick Leite got a throw-in 76 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Severino Capixaba. In the 79th minute Remo Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerrit Cronen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Douglas Meriti blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fonso Zotillo having to make a save. When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Afonso Alagoano sped through XV de Piracicaba's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fonso Zotillo. During the 93rd minute of the match Patrick Leite completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Patrick Leite a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 93rd match minute, XV de Piracicaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Leite to maneuver through the defense. Fonso Zotillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Meriti, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
