Racing Club's Ramiro Lano was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sebastian Frey in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Racing Club's Wang Lei was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 17th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Cornelio Cordearo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Carretero in the 21st minute of the match. Miroslaw Jajecznica received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Sebastian Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luciano Pirro made a kick off. Sebastian Frey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Pirro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56thth minute of the game Robert Billock who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Real Murçia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Pirro came free, but Sebastian Frey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute, Luciano Pirro made a precise shot to the right of Sebastian Frey. Real Murçia FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Samuel Nevada hit a great ball. Racing Club made a substitution. Real Murçia FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Epifanio Txomin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Racing Club made a substitution. Robert Billock did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-2 to the left of a surprised Cornelio Cordearo 75 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Real Murçia FC defense, Epifanio Txomin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastian Frey. The Real Murçia FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastian Frey should have stopped the shot. Epifanio Txomin scored 5-2 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sebastian Frey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Epifanio Txomin took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sebastian Frey. Sebastian Frey dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-2. Epifanio Txomin might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sebastian Frey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Epifanio Txomin ran back to his position shaking his head. Sebastian Frey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Epifanio Txomin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Racing Club fans cheered their team off the field, for while Real Murçia FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
