A sloppy throw-in by Denílson Sena in the 6th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Xiboquinha FC's Yenal Kargin. When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Caetano Simões put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of George Smitt. In the 9th minute Tiquinho Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Smitt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Paulopolis booed when Xiboquinha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiquinho Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dibag Martinez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio Marinho in the 15th minute of the match. George Smitt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Caetano Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Xiboquinha FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Caetano Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. George Smitt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 34 minutes into the match, Xiboquinha FC's Caetano Simões sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that George Smitt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dibag Martinez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dieguinho Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tiquinho Soares to strike the kick off in the second half. Tiquinho Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Xiboquinha FC's Yenal Kargin got a free kick in the 57th minute. George Smitt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caetano Simões in the 62nd minute. Caetano Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Smitt having to interfere. A collision led to Paulopolis getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Denílson Sena hit a great ball. After 68 played minutes Paulopolis got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Sena. In the 70th minute Santiago Ascacíbar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Smitt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Xiboquinha FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Olavo Moreno in the 71st minute. Xiboquinha FC's Olavo Moreno was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but George Smitt in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Dieguinho Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paulopolis's supporters rose to their feet, but Dieguinho Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dibag Martinez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 75 minutes into the match, Tiago Safadão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of George Smitt. Paulopolis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tiago Safadão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 78th minute of the match, Tiago Safadão tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but George Smitt saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Santiago Ascacíbar might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over George Smitt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Santiago Ascacíbar ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Xiboquinha FC's George Smitt threw himself towards the right post 81 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Betinho Leite, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. George Smitt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caetano Simões in the 83rd minute. 88 minutes into the match, Paulopolis's goalkeeper George Smitt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Caetano Simões. Dieguinho Amaral hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Paulopolis defense, Santiago Ascacíbar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of George Smitt. The Paulopolis fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that George Smitt should have stopped the shot.
