After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Burgas's zone, Candido Hendrickx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Álvaro Perpiñán came out of the goal and Candido Hendrickx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Candido Hendrickx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Álvaro Perpiñán showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Candido Hendrickx, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. When Pilar FC's Candido Hendrickx in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sporting Burgas's goalie prevented a goal. In the 17th minute, Candido Hendrickx reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Álvaro Perpiñán. The goal made the score 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Candido Hendrickx in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Álvaro Perpiñán prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sporting Burgas's Álvaro Perpiñán proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Burgas from getting a goal against them. Candido Hendrickx who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Álvaro Perpiñán when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Candido Hendrickxs short, quick shot in the 28thth minute got Álvaro Perpiñán to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Candido Hendrickx came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Pilar FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Candido Hendrickx couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Candido Hendrickx in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Álvaro Perpiñán saved Sporting Burgas from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, Sporting Burgas's goal looked a bit too open when Candido Hendrickx came free, but Álvaro Perpiñán reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Candido Hendrickx managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pilar FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Candido Hendrickx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Álvaro Perpiñán breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute Candido Hendrickx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Perpiñán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Candido Hendrickx stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Sporting Burgas got a freekick which was hit by Seve Sevilla. Godofredo Lano was slow to take the kick. During this time Pilar FC's players had a chance to rest. Godofredo Lano made a great header on Pilar FC's corner, it was just that Sporting Burgas's Álvaro Perpiñán managed to reach the ball for a save. Sporting Burgas's Álvaro Perpiñán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Candido Hendrickx in the 61st minute of play. Tomi Neila showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Davor Šuker in the 76th minute of the match. In the 77th minute Sporting Burgas were awarded a corner. Davor Šuker went to the cornerflag to take it. 83 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sporting Burgas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Godofredo Lano was slow to take the kick. During this time Pilar FC's players had a chance to rest. Luca Langoni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Perpiñán having to interfere. A collision led to Sporting Burgas getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Damian Udrescu hit a great ball. Álvaro Perpiñán took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicanor Illan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 94 minutes Sporting Burgas's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Godofredo Lano who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Pilar FC's Godofredo Lano to fire away a dangerous shot which Álvaro Perpiñán despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience was convinced that Luca Langoni's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álvaro Perpiñán was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
