Cesar Ted's late challenge caught a Vascogoianiense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The tension between the Vascogoianiense FC and the Atlético Montserrat players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Carlos Soeiro got a free kick in the 43rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Everardo Fernandez in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Robert Steffens saved Vascogoianiense FC from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for João Pirani to strike the kick off in the second half. Atlético Montserrat's Isaias Gurutz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matheus Paraíba in the 57th minute of play. Isaias Gurutz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pirani in the 58th minute of the match. Matheus Paraíba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 63 minutes into the match, Angelo Maria had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Isaias Gurutz. Atlético Montserrat's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Angelo Maria was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. After some careless play in the Atlético Montserrat defense, João Pirani kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isaias Gurutz. The Atlético Montserrat fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Isaias Gurutz should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's Waldemar Ortiz got a free kick in the 70th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gogo Rivero got free with Robert Steffens in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
