The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Abel Peralta put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Vasile Neața. Sandu Gheorghiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albérico Vilaverde. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sandu Gheorghiu ran back to his position shaking his head. Bogdan Udrişte struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Albérico Vilaverde didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ASF BAIA MARE -MM-. 23 minutes into the match, ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Fonseca came free, but Vasile Neața reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to SC Braga getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Moisés Álvares hit a great ball. Leandro Queirós hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Zdzislaw Rekowski got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Albérico Vilaverde was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Albérico Vilaverde didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bogdan Udrişte went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Bogdan Udrişte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Abel Peralta to strike the kick off in the second half. Albérico Vilaverde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bogdan Udrişte in the 53rd minute of the match. Eugen Lupea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Albérico Vilaverde read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Albérico Vilaverde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fryderyk Pleban in the 59th minute of the match. In the 87th minute Bogdan Udrişte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albérico Vilaverde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
