The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Khachatryan's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Jermaine Richmond reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tigran Kirakosyan's late challenge caught a MIT Craiova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tigran Kirakosyan helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Khachatryan's Tigran Kirakosyan got a free kick in the 6th minute. A collision led to Khachatryan getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Marquis Kenny hit a great ball. MIT Craiova were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Khachatryan's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mihăiţă Ilarie took the corner. Jermaine Richmond made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Mihăiţă Ilarie sent off a good shot on target. After 17 played minutes Khachatryan got a freekick which was hit by Petros Oganesyan. Mihăiţă Ilarie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiberiu Caramarin in the 22nd minute of play forced Khachatryan's goalkeeper Jermaine Richmond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Calistrat Madgearu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tigran Kirakosyan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mihăiţă Ilarie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Khachatryan's Jermaine Richmond played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorin Banu in the 35th minute of play. A well-hit corner resulted in Dorin Banu heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Calistrat Madgearu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sung McKinley in the 40th minute of the match. MIT Craiova's Calistrat Madgearu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tigran Kirakosyan in the 44th minute of play. In the 49th minute MIT Craiova were awarded a corner. Mihăiţă Ilarie went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led MIT Craiova's Nicodim Orășan to fire away a dangerous shot which Jermaine Richmond despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Nicodim Orășan had several of the Khachatryan's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 49 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Jermaine Richmond as he didn't even see the shot coming. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tiberiu Caramarin was the one to do the kick off. Dorin Banu hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Khachatryan made a substitution. Antoine Schaefer replaced Jon Yost. Dorin Banu kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Nicodim Orășan made in the 61st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Khachatryan's Sung McKinley. After 64 minutes Khachatryan's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mihăiţă Ilarie who took care of the corner kick. In the 65thth minute of the game Sung McKinley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MIT Craiova's Calistrat Madgearu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tiberiu Caramarin in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jermaine Richmond saved Khachatryan from getting behind. 69 minutes into the match, MIT Craiova's goalkeeper Calistrat Madgearu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Merlin Castro. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind MIT Craiova's goalkeeper Calistrat Madgearu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ervin Huber kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After 74 played minutes Khachatryan got a freekick which was hit by Ervin Huber. 78 minutes into the match, MIT Craiova's Tiberiu Caramarin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jermaine Richmond narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 82ndth minute of the game Tiberiu Caramarin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Khachatryan's Jermaine Richmond was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 87th match minute, Khachatryan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hu Wei Shu to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the match, Tiberiu Caramarin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jermaine Richmond. Khachatryan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tiberiu Caramarin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. When MIT Craiova's David Tunander in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Khachatryan's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Tunander in the 95th minute of play forced Khachatryan's goalkeeper Jermaine Richmond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jermaine Richmond took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Tunander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The MIT Craiova fans cheered their team off the field, for while Khachatryan had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
