Danilo Cearense charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Danilo Cearense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Dr Lecter SC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Danilo Cearense hit a great ball. Falcão Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falcão Leme having to interfere. Danilo Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Falcão Leme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 de Mayo's Falcão Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Cearense in the 29th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Dr Lecter SC's Luís Souza got a free kick in the 30th minute. The audience was convinced that Danilo Cearense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Falcão Leme was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Pedro Paulo de Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 27 de Mayo were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after Dr Lecter SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ponce Cruzado took the corner. Dr Lecter SC's Pedro Paulo de Sena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Dr Lecter SC from getting a goal against them. Pedro Paulo de Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zézinho Rossi in the 43rd minute of play. 48 minutes into the match, Dr Lecter SC's goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho Rossi came free, but Pedro Paulo de Sena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When Ponce Cruzado fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 27 de Mayo's protests and gave Ponce Cruzado a yellow card for diving instead. 57 minutes into the match, Dr Lecter SC's Danilo Cearense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Falcão Leme narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiago Corrêa during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 27 de Mayo's Alex Castro was substituted for Bebeto Branco. When Erramu Chute fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 27 de Mayo's protests and gave Erramu Chute a yellow card for diving instead. Ponce Cruzado didn't quite understand what happened when in the 73 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. After 74 played minutes Dr Lecter SC got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Brodel. 27 de Mayo's Ponce Cruzado got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute Zézinho Rossi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Paulo de Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Cearense in the 83rd minute of play forced 27 de Mayo's goalkeeper Falcão Leme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Danilo Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The corner ended in Luís Souza almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but 27 de Mayo's Falcão Leme did a great save. The supporters of 27 de Mayo booed when Dr Lecter SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Falcão Lima had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Falcão Leme. 27 de Mayo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Falcão Lima was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Dr Lecter SC made a substitution. Washington Quadros replaced Danilo Cearense. The Dr Lecter SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Dr Lecter SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
