Bret Harper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernard Kišš in the 35th minute of the match. In the 37th match minute, Guarulhas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hudson Queirós to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adrian Ďumbier in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bret Harper saved Guarulhas from getting behind. 40 minutes into the match, Guarulhas's goal looked a bit too open when Ibrahim Hanif came free, but Bret Harper reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Guarulhas's Vito Mendes got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute Bernard Kišš shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bret Harper saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Tiaguinho Reis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aykan İsmet having to interfere.
