Marseille were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Tacheros de Buenos Aires's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Florent Travers took the corner. Florent Travers made a great header on R.C. Marseille's corner, it was just that Tacheros de Buenos Aires's Haroldo Lartaun managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 12th minute Arnulfo Dolcet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Lechat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Haroldo Lartaun was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Bart Vetter capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Bart Vetter really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. An annoying self made goal, 3-0. Haroldo Lartaun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bart Vetter in the 29th minute of the match. If Albino Liberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tacheros de Buenos Aires's Albino Liberto got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as R.C. Marseille's Bart Vetter slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Haroldo Lartaun. That made the score 4-0 after 44 minutes of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albino Liberto made a kick off. The corner led R.C. Marseille's William Chausson to a score. 5-0 in the 54th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Tacheros de Buenos Aires's zone, Bart Vetter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo Lartaun came out of the goal and Bart Vetter tried to chip the ball over his head. After 83 played minutes R.C. Marseille got a freekick which was hit by Francis Coignard. Haroldo Lartaun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bart Vetter in the 87th minute of the match. Bart Vetter struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Haroldo Lartaun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for R.C. Marseille. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victoriano Martinez during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. R.C. Marseille's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
