The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 16thth minute of the game Régis Coutinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Osfinch FC's Paul Warne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th match minute, Osfinch FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Micheal Prendergast to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Régis Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paul Warne was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 28 minutes into the match, Andy Carroll had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vicente Toscano. FC St. Pauli's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andy Carroll was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Paul Warne came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by FC St. Pauli's Oscar Massa. But to his dismay, Oscar Massa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. With 42 minutes on the clock, Ricardo Rocha commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The supporters of Osfinch FC booed when FC St. Pauli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stew Brownlow struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Vicente Toscano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Osfinch FC.

Andy Carroll's late challenge caught a FC St. Pauli's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trevor Wells didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osfinch FC's Paul Warne proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Osfinch FC from getting a goal against them. Oscar Massa scored 1-6 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Paul Warne, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 66th minute, Fred Urbano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. CJ Tindale kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Adriano Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Oscar Massa made a precise shot to the right of Paul Warne. Osfinch FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-7. FC St. Pauli's Adriano Berger got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 1-8 became the score in the 85th minute when Oscar Massa elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Greg Foley hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Stew Brownlow hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Stew Brownlow charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
